Bug reports & end-user support for Akai's MPC Software 'controllers' including the new MPC Studio 2, the MPC Touch, MPC Renaissance & original MPC Studio and MPC StudioB lack.

I just received the MPC Touch on Christmas Eve. I was so excited. Little did I know is that there are no disk included, so you are required to register the MPC Touch in order to get the drivers, which means that I have to logon to the Akai site. It has been a long while since I logged on so I don't remember my password. So I'm thinking no problem, I will just click the forgot password link. So I did but did not receive a reply or temporary password. I called tech support and discovered that they all of their offices are closed for the holiday season. Oops!
I tried to use another email to create an account, but still got no reply. The second attempt I get the "This serial number is invalid" message. So "Thank You" Akai and "Merry Christmas" to your jack*ss setup program. Well thought out. Can I please get the drivers for this machine anywhere beside the unmanned registration site? I am in pain right now.

You can download the mpc software installer from http://www.akaipro.com/product/mpcrenaissance#downloads, the version I downloaded contains all the MPC Touch drivers as well (e.g. DisplayLink driver, MPC Touch MIDI controller etc). The installer is suitable for all the controllers, you just select your controller at the beginning of the install.

As for Akai being closed, come on, it's Xmas Eve, they are not a huge company so I'd fully expect them to shut down for a Xmas day and Boxing Day.

MPC Tutor,

Thanks a million for the link. I didn't get a chance to download from it yet. Just wanted to take a minute show appreciation.

By all means. I understand it's Christmas Eve and all. My gripe is with the website. I was expecting to receive a new password so that I could sign in and register. I used the "Forgot password" link expecting to receive a new password. I never received it. I expected that it would be on auto-pilot and provide a new password via automation. It was no surprise that they shutdown for Christmas Eve. I would have considered my self lucky if someone was actually there to assist me.
Enough on that line.

I appreciate you and what you do.

Merry Christmas to you and all.

No doubt,

I've never known the akai reset password function to work. I've tried numerous times over the last few years. I gave up trying. It's clearly broken in some way, as others have also complained about it.

That being said, it's my fault for losing the password in the first place. But still, the akai function is broken nonetheless.

Now I see it a bit clearer. I mostly panicked not knowing that the drivers were there on the website the whole time. I assumed that I had to register and that I would be sent a special code that would be required to download the drivers needed for my hardware based on its serial number. I also thought that I would have to wait until Monday before I could get up and running. That was not the case, So egg on my face for assuming too fast.

Most importantly, I am up and running now, And once again, I am excited to explore my new MPC Touch.

Merry Christmas everybody... Ho! Ho! Ho!

I discovered that all of my requested passwords were being sent to my "Scam Mail folder'. I should have caught that much sooner. I am posting this just in case it should happen to someone else.

Peace out.
