For a 2000 classic you would take it apart from the top of the machine as opposed to 2000xl where you would take it apart from the bottom.
(First you need to remove the Face Plate and Front Bumper. To do this you will remove a total of 13 screws.)
-x4 large screws 2 on each side of the faceplate
-x3 along the back of the faceplate above the outputs
-x3 on the bottom of the bumper
-x3 on the front of faceplate "Visible once bumper is removed".
(Next you will need to remove the Operation Panel. To do this you will remove a total of 6 screws and 1 ribbon cable. ) "Refer to pg. 165 of the manual to get a visual of the operation panel screws".
-x4 2 screws on each side of the panel
-x2 screws on the panel
-x1 ribbon cable
IMPORTANT!
To remove the Operation Panel you will need to disconnect the ribbon cable underneath the panel before completely pulling it out. Lift up the panel just a couple inches or as much is needed to reach under and disconnect the ribbon cable. It will be clipped in place, just push the clips outward and it should come out easily.
After the Operation Panel has been removed you will be able to access the 8 outs mount. You will need to remove the screws located next to the outputs that connect the mount on the backside of the machine. The feet of the mount will be screwed in by 2 screws on the bottom of the machine. You also will most likely need to remove the floppy drive and the 3 sided metal brace to give yourself adequate work space. These may also be unscrewed from the bottom of the machine.
Once you have removed the mount you be able screw your 8 Out Expansion into place and pop it back in. After it is properly mounted and screwed into place, all you need to do is plug the ribbon cable attached to the 8 outs into main board and reassemble the your machine. Remember to take your time and don't skip anything especially upon reassembly. Don't be afraid to ask if you have any additional questions or if I missed any steps.
