OK, I'm trying to familiarize myself with the MPC software as much as possible before I get my Ren. Of course I can't authorize the software yet, so plugin mode is disabled (though it loads up). In Sonar, to insert an instance of the MPC soft as a plugin, you hit Insert>soft synth>MPC. Then INSERT SOFT SYNTH OPTIONS pops up. From here you can choose FIRST SYNTH AUDIO OUTPUT, ALL SYNTH AUDIO OUTPUTS: STEREO or MONO. When I choose ALL/STEREO, 16 stereo tracks appear, labeled MPC 1 1/2,3/4,etc all the way to 31/32 (audio track 16 in Sonar). If I so chose (no reason to yet) I could change the input on each audio track to any of the supposed MPC outputs it seems to be seeing. It goes 1: left: mono, 2: right: mono 1/2 Stereo, 3: left: mono etc., all the way to 31/32 Stereo.
MPC software in plugin mode has 16 stereo outs? Sonar 8 seems to think it does. Remember, I can't unlock plugin mode yet so no sound to test. This is just heavy pre-purchase recon.
I would have thought IF the MPC software in plugin mode had multitrack out (as it should) it would be 8 pairs, that fed from the 8 submixes (that we can't yet rename).
I can't find anything on AKAI's site that suggests MPC plugin mode has multiple outs, including the knowledge base article about using the plugin in Sonar X2. I'm still on 8.
Just a sharing of experience here would be great, anything you feel like sharing. I appreciate it.
EDIT: I have now gathered from the forum here that MPC software has multitrack outs as a plugin (late pass for me but thanks).
I would assume tracks go to their corresponding track in the DAW. What then of submixes? Should I leave them alone? The meters are motionless when I use tracks the same way as I did with my MPC 1000 JJos 1. Confused. Thank you for any help.
