Newbie, A few questions about mpc2000Xl

Hello,
I'm planing to buy mpc, I haven't decide between 2000Xl/1000 yet, but I want to know a few things more about the 2000XL.
So, I have M-Audio Firewire Audiophile and I have connected my turntables to it so there is one Spdif input and output can I use it for the mpc2000xl music transfer?
And it may sound to you funny but can you tell me what I can transfer with the MIDI in/out...
My Software Is Cubase SX 2.0
Since I'm doing hip hop will you advice to me the Mpc1000 or strictly 2000XL.

midi is a programing lang which tells a machine at what time and what type of sysex note to turn on and off. so basically midi = music note on and or off, or on ->off, etc

I saw some guys here talking about connecting zip drive with the scsi, why is that needed 2000xl got zip? Sorry about my stupid questions, but I'm very confused and I can't decide between 1000/2000xl

Get a 1k, it's cheaper, newer technology, effects as standard, CF is faster and WAY more reliable than zips could ever dream of bieng. so, why the confusion. ALL MPC's can make good hiphop so why the confusion there?
ALL cars are designed to get you from point a to point b correct, hence ALL mpc's can make music (any music you want).

since you are using your computer get the 1000. the 2kxl has the ability to chop samples better than the 1000 but you can chop on the computer and transfer the the mpc1000. get the 1000 or the 4000 but the 1kvs2k debate is pretty thin...

with that said, i own the 2kxl and love it, im trying to sell it though and get the 4k.

get the 4k. they aren't that much more expensive if you look around...im not gonna help you too much in that department because im lookin on the cheap right now myself..

What do you mean by chopping the sounds better?

ehhh... dont let that chopping thing be the deciding factor.

i have a 2000xl. sometimes i chop on the mpc because it can be faster & i dont lose creative juices in the time it takes to transfer files between the mpc & the computer. but i prefer chops done on the computer because they're more exact. its just a matter of preference.

some people have mpc's with floppy drives instead of zips. thats why they talk about connecting external zip drives on the scsi port.

i think that if you know you're always going to have a computer then theres no reason NOT to get the 1000. if i would have waited 6 more months i probably would have gotten the 1000 instead.

The 2000xl Chop Function IS useful but there is Always Recycle or Sound Forge on the Computer.
