Is the Touch's lag that bad?

I've started watching the new akaipro videos MPC Academy in youtube.
The guy in the video started talking about the touch experience and moves the finger across the screen to demonstrate touch.
But the huge lag let me shocked Is really that bad?

With a long wav loaded you have visual lag when moving the start on end point. The audio is playing where you have your finger though so it's a visual issue on the Touch Display. With short samples you do not experience this. When doing lazy chop and other stuff there is no lag.

In real world use any visual lag is not an issue. I had to load a long sample to even see it, and even then it's only the visual and not the sound.

IMHO the screen response is great (yes I'm becoming a fanboy)

Yeah, ok I get it, but anyway, I hope they can make the visual latency shorter in the future, I know it's a thing that continuosly would pick my eye. It feels a little as when you are doing a screen recording and everything responses right but you can feel the visual lag because of the background recording IYKWIM

I had to look at the instructional video, to understand what you mean. But there is indeed lag. You can see it best when both screens are being compared. Could it be the latency?

The thing is I am tired of playing the akai's buy now we'll catch up later game.
If they had this shorted for when the bigger unit goes out(if there is a bigger unit) I'll take the plunge.
Awaiting NAMM eagerly, waiting to see what akai has under their sleeve, and what Roland has to offer.
Got some money to burn, I was going after OP-1 and system-1m but decided to wait til 24-26 Jan.

I agree, something like that would be hard to ignore, and quite frankly for a touchscreen device you shouldn't have to get used to something like that. Still waiting for my review unit to arrive from Akai, so trust me, the first thing I will do is to specifically look at any lag problems.

But you can see from all the videos that there's definitely obvious sluggishness when pinching and zooming.

I have not experienced any noticeable lag. I am using it with a 2015 MBP when I'm at home and 2015 Macbook when I am traveling. Both solutions work great.

I'm running on a late 2013 MBP 13" retina w/ 8gb RAM.

Absolutely no workflow issues due to any screen lag. I mean, it's not instantaneous, but fiddling w/ a trackpad, a Ren screen or by ear isn't any faster. Besides, who's chopping and editing samples under live conditions?

LOL. Who would buy a DVD from an instructor that doesn't know the device's workflow? He isolated that chop, then triggered the sample from the beginning.

Anyway, you can see the ever-so-slight delay between his gesture and the screen reaction time. It exists. It's simply not an issue. As I said, no one would do that stuff in a live scenario, and if your "workflow" is at such a breakneck speed as to find that millisecond-lag an obstacle, I'd be pretty skeptical of your ear, anyway. It's like "speed painting". Relying on trained motor skills to barrel through a project doesn't give me a lot of confidence in the artistic merit of your work. Bob Ross isn't an "artist", he's a tradesman.

There is lag starting at 1:25. That's the lag that everyone is talking about when loading large files. It's visual lag from when you move in another direction.

Its probably one of those things that gets your attention when you look at it.

I have this weird habit of noticing scratches on my equipment. Almost everytime I look at it, I see the scratch.

It annoys me enough to want it fixed. I imagine the lag is one of those things for some people also. Either that or talking yourself out of it.

If I already had a Ren, I would think about getting something else also.
