Are Jaz drives "hot swappable"?

If I take out one Jaz disk and put in another while the MPC is on, that doesn't kill the SCSI connection, right? I'm assuming the hot swappability issue just pertains to ATAPI CF card readers and that SCSI connections function differently than that. I do know that if I turn on the Jaz drive and then the MPC and that if the Jaz drive doesn't have a disk in it, the MPC won't recognize the SCSI connection, so there's gotta be a disk in the drive at least when you first fire everything up...

I'm loading up a Jaz disk with about the max file size limit the MPC can read with all my go-to samples off of various CF cards and once I get all those files onto my Jaz disk, I'd like to load them all them up from that Jaz disk and put in another so I can make a back-up in case something ever happens to the main one. Otherwise, I'm just gonna have to go through all my CF cards again and load the sounds card by card onto my Jaz disk. Not a big deal obviously, will just take a little longer.

Hotswap away. It won't do any harm.

The mpc only holds up to 32mb at a time. The jaz is 1 or 2 gb.

If it's a SCSI Jaz then yes, Atapi NO.

Well I've been loading samples off a CF card and assigning them to the 64 pads, then saving them to the Jaz disk, then turning off the MPC to clear out the RAM so I can load more samples up because of that 32MB limitation...although I guess I can just re-assign different samples to the pads instead of turning it off and back on again. I know the Jaz can save a lot of data, but I'm on OS version 1.2, so I guess the MPC can't read more than 256 files anyway and am assuming I can only put up to 256 files on the Jaz disk. Or can I actually put more than that on the Jaz disk and the 256 file limit is relegated to the CF cards? If I can save more than 256 files to a Jaz disk, that would be awesome.

The Jaz disks are only for me to save my go-to samples, like kicks, snares, hats, etc., on and then loading up enough to make a kit out of whenever I work on something new. Everything else gets saved to my CF cards, like the few samples I pulled for a drum kit, songs, and samples exclusive to those songs. All my go-to samples were taking up near the 256 file limit on a CF card, so they didn't leave room for me to save anything else on it and I don't have a hot-swappable reader, so I'm not able to load the few ones I need and then swap out cards to save projects, sequences, etc..
