Which would be quickest and most efficient way to sequence and record external synths? (monotimbral & monophonic, ie moogs, etc.)

1) MIDI sequence the synths with the MPC 1000 and have all their audio outputs feeding into a mixer interface. Then hitting play on the MPC once they are sequenced and record both synths at the same time on 2 different audio channels. Simply using the MPC as a sequencer and use the DAW as recorder. BUT, run into latency playing back the recorded tracks in the DAW and sequencing new tracks on the MPC?

2) Same deal with the MIDI sequencing and audio routing as in example #1, but add in a separate CTRL Room stereo output from the mixer interface into the inputs of the MPC 1000. Then, solo each unit that is MIDI sequenced and record it's audio to the MPC and just trigger the audio sample. No big latency this way because of no PC, but loss of multitrack into DAW, which would mean a bit longer to record each part to the MPC.

Just wondering how some of you guys deal with recording and sequencing MONOtimbral and MONOphonic gear, using the MPC and computer.

Thanks
