Bug reports & end-user support for Akai's MPC Software 'controllers' including the new MPC Studio 2, the MPC Touch, MPC Renaissance & original MPC Studio and MPC StudioB lack.

Hi there,

Can someone tell me - in the standard MPC software install - where there are some bass sounds? I'm trying to follow the simple Akai tutorial (in the manual) and it just says "locate and select a bass sample" - yeh, but from where?

Apologies for what must be a very simple question - but all I'm finding is drum kits and drum loops....

Cheers

I'm not sure if any bass samples are provided in the standard 'MPC Content' library, I never used it. But the MPC is a sampler, so you could sample some bass from records or a bass guitar, search the net for some free bass sounds, buy some bass sample packs etc. If you want MPC Software tutorials that actually come with all the tutorial files (including tutorials for using bass samples), check out my book, every single tutorial comes with all the files you need to recreate everything in your MPC:

Ha ha - yes of course - I can do that ..... in a way my question was a bit wider - there is not a great deal of help in the manual on locating stuff - Bass was an example.

BTW - I already have your book - Yeh, I'll follow your tutorials - thanks! When are you going to release the book about the sequencer.... I have many confusions with that.

I've been working on additional sequencing tutorials, unlikely to be a separate book though, probably just add it to the existing book in a future upgrade along with some other tutorials I've been writing.

Some sequencing tutorials would be very welcome. Part of my problem is that I'm not really used to the MPC way of doing things. My background is more from the Roland sequencers - MC50 etc. - and they have more of a linear approach than what seems to be the 'cycle based' MPC system.

There are a few different Bass sounds in the Legacy MPC sample folder. There are 808's and stand-up bass in the MPC500 folder, and a few in the 5000 folder I think.

I don't think this is the fundamental issue. Its where sounds are located which is valid as Akai content is not always placed where you might have or like your other samples to be.
