making a hoover on a Akai 3000

anyone got any advice on creating that old school rave hoover sound out of the inbuilt waves on a S3000 or similar.

It would be impossible. Just sample it from another source.

I was thinking the same thing.

you need the osc, all of them as saw waves.... i don't believe the s3000 has saw.... i could be wrong...

You need a pulse wave, but you need to be able to modulate the width of the pulse, which I don't think any sampler can do or simulate well. So yeah, gotta sample one.

hmm yeah... I tried this evening and it did'nt realy sound like what I was hoping to achieve.
I used 4 saw waves , with 2 of them de-tuned slightly ....but it didn't really work.
I have got quite a few samples of the hoover type sound which work fine but, I thought I might have been able to create it out of the S3000 sine, pulse, square or sawtooph waves.

Ive got a C, G and E of a hoover type stab, so I'll have to get my head round making a program with them mapped out and tuned appropriately..
The quest continues.

there is more that goes into it then just detuning saw waves. there is some modulation and filtering that goes along with it. its honestly pretty easy to do in massive. would just need to dig alittle in the sampler to figure out how to modulate the sounds... you have me curious now about trying it out on my 3200xl

Yep ''hoover'' Is a bit ambiguous.
But I'd call them both hoovers, perhaps wrongly.


I like that one but, not the portamento.
its the high end almost white noise element I can't simulate.

and i think that may be where the problem is trying to do this on a sampler... i haven't really messed with this portion of the sampler much.. it was just monday evening that i started making sounds with the "synth" side of the sampler. it def can make some noise though

This hoover will go great on a 3000. You can snort off the pads.
