MPC Software 2.0

If this going to a real daw, id really like to see implemented something like Controller Assignments in Logic. I have dozens of plugins and hundreds of parameters configured to control from external midi devices. Do this and you can have all my monies.

Awesome video, and thank you Saint Joe and Dan. Now that it's clear we have to pay for it which is cool by me. My question now is can Akai offer pre-ordering for cd or download. The reason being I know the Akai servers will be slammed for weeks when it's released.

- The new MPC Studio looks nice. It would have been even better if they thought to put a flip up screen on it. I like the concept of just needing a usb cable to operate the controller of software base MPC. Glad that they have options for different needs. But for me, if I'm plugging in audio cables and a power supply. It better work on its own.

You're kidding right? Don't get me wrong, I like the look of the new Studio, but it is just different control knobs (that stick out, whereas the original are nearly flush) and a brushed look to the metal faceplate. I can't see anything that indicates any internals have changed at all, and I don't think the current version now looks 'crappy' at all so I think you are way off base.

I would have liked to see a flip up screen on the new version though. I assume they didn't include that as it's just a minor facelift rather than any kind of re-engineering

The one thing that I'm missing so far and I haven't heard anyone talking about it is the ability to freeze instruments tracks.. A few of my projects (Sonar and Cubase) have a lot of instruments with plugins in it, in order for it to play back I have to freeze a lot of those tracks or else the soundcard will suffer big time..

This. I'm a UAD user and because they use external DSP, freezing tracks is essential to not having 5 external DSP boxes.

Lol, don't take me too seriously, obviously the old Studio doesn't suddenly become terrible, but I do think side-by-side the silver one now doesn't look that great. I'm really liking the sleek black look of the Touch and new Studio.

But the upgraded Q Links and data wheel, that's a big deal as the old style ones really are awful and were clearly only used to give the Studio that thin low profile, there was clearly no thought to their actual usability. So unless the silver Studios are a lot cheaper, I really can't see too many people choosing the old model over the new one.

Equally, the market is unlikely to be flooded with the current style Studios, as the facelift I don't think will be enough to get many existing studio users to 'upgrade'. I'm sure the new knobs are easier to use (although I don't have much of a problem with the current one), although I think aesthetically they look a bit out of place given the slimline look to the rest of it.

I agree the black finish looks nice though.

The black Studio looks nice. I'm glad they made those improvements with the Q-Links and the jog wheel.
