Direct Record in MPC 2500 JJOS??

Hey there,

I just pass to use software to use hardware directly,I buy a Akai MPC 2500 has 128mb ram and 80GB hard drive with OS 3.13 jjos free.
my question is how I can record directly to the MPC from a synthesizer?
I have a Korg M50 and the only way to do this is achievement using the "MODE" button + pad "Record" but it doesn't in real time and asking me assignment.

hello!

there is no direct record function in the free alternative os, as described in the release notes for that os. however there are some "audio tracks" on the last few tracks, that allow for recording (longer) audio sounds at the end of the tracks (tr. 60-64 i think).
read the manual of the alternative os for more info, or ask in the dedicated subforum for the alternative os.
that audio tracks are not the same function as the original direct record function of the akai os - i think the automatic assign in time to the sequence is one of the function that is missing.
as i bought the mpc2500 for exactly that function (besides of being a good midi sequencer for all my outboard synths) to record real guitar and real bass to my sequences, i stayed on the last official os 1.24, so i can´t tell you more about the audio tracks in the alternative os.

I just started using the audio tracks for the free JJ OS. They work great . What i have been doing is direct recording into track 61, saving the sample, then adding it to a program. . it seems that there is a bit of blip at the beginning which needs to be edited out. but even in doing that the time still seems to be bang on. The only issue is after having 5 16 bar samples loaded the ram is overloaded and samples cut out when i try to add more sounds.
