Using Maschine's Transient Shaper / Tape saturator - MPC Ren

Hey guys,

I recently watched Dj Hellfire's video on transient shapers where he mentions you can use NI's transient shaper which is free if you have Maschine. I have Maschine and couldn't seem to get this to work... Couldn't locate the transient shaper among my other NI inserts. Also, is it possible to use Maschine's tape saturator in the MPC? I hope this hasn't been addressed before, if so, sorry for asking. I tried searching the forum but haven't found anything.. Can't wait for 2.0... And definitely can't wait for a "Ren 2". 2016 will definitely be Akai's year

Yeah i'm note sure how he got the free shaper either. Now I use maschine fx in the mpc by using the mashine fx vst plugin, you can use all of Maschine's FX that way.

I think it might have been a mis-wording. It comes with Komplete 9/10 or can be purchased individually for $99. You can buy or try with the link below:

Great plugin / tool in general. I typically reach for the Native SPL Transient designer plugin but they all do the same thing. It is not limited to drums either.

Thanks for the quick reply Kaydigi I appreciate it. Are we then able to browse the NI fx presets? Hopefully with 2.X we can eventually browse presets via the Ren hardware... By using the Maschine fx vst plugin, I wonder if one could then control/adjust the plugin with Maschine as they're auto-mapped to the knobs (Maschine). Would be great seeing this default to qlinks!

Yeah all those features would be great, right now in plugin mode you can only browse the presets directly on the Maschine hardware or software GUI.

I use NI's "Transient Master" which is the same thing really, most drums I program. It's simple and great.

What's up IMAKEDABEATS, where do you prefer to apply the "Transient Master", on the individual sound level, program, or submix. I suppose even on the return and blending the wet/dry signals would be interesting. I have before thought about if applying compressors / transient shapers at the sound level is over kill (too processed) but in the end we're all seeking the best sound right? This may be deviating towards another topic but while messing around with layering drums i split left vs right channels of a particular sound and applied LP & HP, and different EQ settings for each at the sound level. Just wondering what the best method is for achieving a phat sound to my drums. (Dubs banger's layering video inspired me to try the technique)

Always best to use transient shapers on the actual sound vs a return, IMO. There's no rule though. You can do it how you want if it gets you the desired sound. For returns and blending wet with dry I usually stick to things like parallel compression, reverb, delay, etc.
