Exchange tips and tricks for the Akai MPC4000

Hi,

Just wanted to ask if there's any good videos or tutorials out there, detailing on how to get the most out of step sequencing on the MPC4000.

I'd like to step sequence some intricate synth lead melodies at a tempo of around 175BPM.
I read somewhere that it would be easier or quicker to utilise the step sequencing function on the MPC for this purpose.

To achieve the flawless execution of an intricate lead line melody...

1. Decrease the tempo; play the intricate line, then return to your desired tempo of 175.

or

2. Press STEP EDIT Button

a. Press F1 Option (Step Edit Option Window Opens)
b. Duration of Recorded Notes field should read: TC Value: AS PLAYED
c. Auto Step Increment on Key Release: YES

This feature will move the sequencer forward (at the speed of the slower tempo) as you record your performance. One take performances should be a breeze, if not, then press UNDO SEQ and try again.
