End of the Renaissance?

Just noticed that the Ren isn't available anymore in the big shops here in Europe ( Thomann, Musicstore etc. ).

So the new Studio is the official Ren successor or what?

Seems that the French distributor doesn't diplay it anymore.

The Ren is still widely available in the UK from all major music gear retailers for next day delivery, so I wouldn't start assuming it's been discontinued just yet.

Probably some remaining stock in the UK? I believe it's discontinued. The place I work at tried to order some Rens a few weeks ago and inMuisc does not carry them anymore. Also, I talked to a guy working for them and he confirmed that the Ren is no longer available. Apparently it will still be supported though, can't wait for 2.0!

Yeah, seems to be the end.
After testing the Touch I'm really happy I kept mine.

I have to say I've come to truly love my Ren....it'll take some sexy beast of a machine to pry mine out of my cold, dead hands...

Since the Touch came out theres like a billion Rens on ebay for like dirt cheap so maybe yeah

When I looked at Akai's website, where the new MPC Studio shows, I also found the new MPC Touch. So, perhaps this does mean that the Ren is discontinued.

The Ren still has many advantages over the Touch and the Studio for me. Firstly, 4 MIDI outs. Multiple MIDI interfaces (with working drivers for the latest Win/Mac OS's at least) are rare these days. Secondly, the hands on controller real estate is still unique.

Maybe a new Ren that combines it's strengths with the Touch's screen would be something...

I still prefer the Ren over everything and I'm hoping what's next is a Ren 2. I like pushing physical buttons. If I didn't mind doing everything on a touchscreen I would just use an ipad. That's why the MPC Touch does nothing for me. The reason I use an MPC is for the physical experience.
