Is it possible to use a microphone using the MPC Touch?

Is it possible to use a microphone using the MPC Touch?

I just got an MPC Toch (coming from a Ren), and I can't figure out how to use my mic with the Touch. I've hooked it up using XLR female (mic, not condensed, no phantom power needed) to 1/4 TRS.

Anyone has had this issue?

Inputs on back aren't for direct mic connection.

They are ANALOG LINE LEVEL inputs, for example MPC L/R main out -> Touch L/R Input.

You'll need mic -> pre-amp -> Touch Analog Input.

That mic should work without a pre amp:

"The Devine BM-1000 feature a switch, which can be accessed if you carefully unscrew the housing. Once the switch is pressed, the microphone goes into condenser mode, which means that you'll enjoy higher audio quality and a more dynamic sound. In condenser mode, the mic requires phantom power, however. When the switch is not pressed, the BM-1000 serves as a dynamic microphone and won't need phantom power, so you can also use it if you're working a mixer or audio interface that doesn't provide phantom power."


Sounds like it should be fine going direct into the Touch, as long as you switch it to dynamic mode first?

Lamp is right
Mic level is much lower than Line level. Without a mic preamplifier to bring the Mic level signal up to Line level, it's way too quiet.

A dynamic mic like an SM58 direct into a line level input should be picked up without a preamp; it won't be as loud as with a preamp but depending on the loudness of the source you can often get away with just whacking up the gain.

What bothers me is that he's not picking up anything - he should at least have something coming through, even if it's quiet.

I am worried about this too, even on dynamic mode there is no signal.

The mic comes with an xlr to 1/8" cable which can be plugged directly into a PC. The mic does work using that way.

Yes, I do it all the time.
Make sure monitor is on, and it mic has a battery, be sure it is good as well.

I get excellent levels, and zero issues. Also, invest in a cable for the mic that goes from XLR on the mic to 1/4 to plug direct into the Touch. Just makes things easier.
