I just bought a used MPC 1000 and when it boot up it says

MPC 1000 New OS 16 MB

Version 4.81

It's obviously a version of JJOS, due to the workflow.

The "other" screen shows the same information and a date of 8/10/07.

I have been to the JJ website, but I can't exactly tell what this is. I am assuming it's a version of OS1?

Does anyone know?

It's either the Free OS version or OS1. And I *think* it's OS1 also. I remember that version going to 4.9 something. One way to find out would be to load the newest version OS1 and see if you are able to save.

Thanks guys - I'm thinking it
Must be OS 1 because I read
The whole manual and I can see a ton of differences including it has a grid editor.
It just doesn't specifically say JJOS anywhere on the splash screen. What an amazing machine! I wish I would have been exposed to one ten years ago!

no, you wouldn't  first full version dropped at september 2006 and it came a loooong way since than to get what you have. You might want to download and use OS1 ver 5.00 as upgrading within the same OS is free of charge.

Thanks! The to bottom pads are dead. So I'm going to return it back to guitar center. Now I just have to decide whether I want to buy that 1000, 2500, are the 5000?
