Syncing w/ Ableton?? Drums(1000) Samples(Ableton)

I love my 1000 but i wanna take it to the next level. I wanna sample/program my drums on the 1000 and chop my samples on ableton and have them both in sync! Kinda like the old school sp1200/s950 combo. In this case, do i have the 1000 as master and ableton as slave?? I wanna use the simpler slicer as my main chopping tool but keep all my drum programming in the 1000 and have them play together. Hope this makes sense. Any help would be great

It works no problem
I would do live as master tho personally
Check your midi settings in live to send on your midi outs
In the mpc go to midi/other and select slave and the in that is physically connected to live
That should do it, sorry if it's not clear, I don't have my gear in front of me
Then for me when I press play on push the mpc starts up as well!

I wanna use the MPC sequencer so im gonna slave ableton. Im pretty much using ableton as a sound/chopping module. Im gonna try it out when i get home. Thx for the reply! If you wanna add anything else to this thread then please do so. Anything will help, hopefully my experiment works

Even as a slave you can still use the mpc sequencer,
That's how I am doing drums and drones sequenced in the mpc, while pads and synths or leads on push 2 with live as the master
I also sequence a blofeld from the mpc while it is slaved to live

Tried it and had no luck! Messed up all my midi settings cause i forgot what i turned on and off. Ableton is just not the program for me LOL. I tried to get into it so many times and nothing good came out of it, Oh well.

First of all, forget for a while about master & slave having their fun in sync
forget it and turn off all clocks, you don't need it NOW if you can't even play with it as soundmodule.
Focus on MIDI receiving on Live, and ARM a track in Live, turn on "monitor" on track stripe, etc..

Having trouble understanding your reply! so your saying just use ableton as it is with no MPC? please elaborate

I say that clocking and sync is just icing on cake, leave that to end, when you will be able to send MIDI from MPC to Live.

No syncing required if you are just triggering sounds in Live via MIDI, i.e. using Live as a sound module. Syncing only needed when tracking from the MPC to Live, although even that is optional, you can do it manually and align audio tracks later.
