Exchange tips and tricks for the Akai MPC4000
ByAnon_48483Fdi3 Sat Feb 20, 2016 9:00 pm
I use my MPC 4000 as a midi work station. One thing that's driving me bloody crazy at the moment is that it's seemingly impossible to save custom pad assignments. For example, I would live PAD BANK A to be tuned to a minor, PAD BANK B to be b major etc.

Is there anyway for me to save these assignments? I can save them to a program file, but can't then load that into the global pad assignment (the only selections I get are DEFAULT and CHROMATIC).

Can anyone help, it's driving me **** crazy. I've read the manual and can't see anything relevant.

Thanks,

Tony

t,

pad arrangements are stored within the MULTI - so make a new (custom) arrangement and save yr multi...

Just tried it, they are not saved in the multi, and they are not saved when I do "save entire memory".

Am I doing something wrong? I'm pressing pad assign, making my changes, then saving.

Have a look at this video I made and see if you can tell me where I'm going wrong

Pad assign is part of PROGRAM. Save the program.

I started out saving entire memory to a folder. Then I started playing with the files to see what did what.
I learned by doing. I also had a 2kxl for several years so files weren't foreign to me, I kinda knew about the program files and what was contained in it.

Samples must be assigned to a program.
Program is a collection assignments, program must be assigned to a Multi.
Multi is a collection of programs.

Sample > program > multi >main menu.

SAME as explained in that thread.

This doesn't work either. I have read that thread completely. I am NOT trying to save a sample assignment, but rather a midi note/number to the pad. Should be clear enough in the video.
