Using MPC2000 Classic Sequencing other Midi Devices

Quick question as can't find in the manual, I need to use my MPC2000 Classic to sequence external Midi gear, especially a Drum Rack and require a metronome, stupid question BUT is there a note/pad/key automatically set up on the MPC for this use, if not how do I do this as have no Metronome at present and i'm no Dilla and is this in the manual ?

I appreciate this is probably really simple and i've probably missed something in the manual.

what is the question... hold record and push play start.... you will hear the built in metronome. it only comes on when recording... it can be turned off on the main screen.... if that isn't working for you then assign a sample to a pad (like a high hat or a snare... or a coconut clap sound or some thing) and record a sequence with that sound on every beat.

i think he's saying he doesn't have the audio from the mpc hooked up, and wondering if there is a way to have the metronome send a midi note?
i think this is possible (at least on the xl) but i'd have to look through my manual to figure it out.

yes sorry obviously not making myself clear, i'm hooking up a drum module and i'm using the MPC as sequencer so was wondering how to assign a sound from the drum module as metronome, can't find in manual, if not i'll have to set up an audio out from MPC to do this

ok my request still isn't 100% clear

so here we go

i have an mpc200 classic which at present I only want to use to sequence external midi gear
i'm limited on the number of audio channels in my mixer so don't wanna use an additional one for the MPC metronome and was hoping somehow I could assign a drum sound from my drum module to do this
a pity if it's not possible
I only need to know if it's possible to do what i've explained above, not that he MPC has a metronome when using samples from it, I am aware of this already

no but yes.

if you can record a track (pick one you wont use like track 20 or something) and grab a stick.. while at the mpc.. look at the clock on it when you push record+playstart ... while the clock goes 1234-2234-3234-4234 you hit the stick on beat and with quantize (timing) on the mpc set to 1/8 you should hear playback on time with what you just hit in.. click stop then click play and it should be there. That would be with midi from the drum rig to the mpc and from mpc back to the rig... or you could alternatively do the same thing with a pad instead of the stick if in the program/assign menu, you have the pad assigned to the same midi note number as the sound you plan to use as the click.

OR you could wear headphones and use the stock metronome sound as a click track..


but it doesn't do what you want how you intended as far as im aware without setting it up manually like i suggested.

The easiest way to do what everyone is saying would be to set your quantization value for what you want the metronome at, then hold note repeat and the pad that triggers your metronome sound while you record. Maybe even record different quantization values and swing on various tracks so you have different metronome timings you can refer to when you need them, then save that program into the flash ROM and have it autoload so you don't have to spend each session setting up a new metronome and figuring out MIDI notes/channels and all that stuff. That will save you some time & work each time you sit down to work on something new.

yea duh - so obvious i didnt even think about it.
record your own metronome track however you want.
you have to do this on for example a machinedrum anyway because it doesn't even have a metronome.
