Loading old MPC 60 zip disc into MPC 2000.. Error!!

Hello,

I have several old zip discs with files saved from an MPC60 that I am now trying to load into an MPC2000.
The MPC 2000 is recognizing the zip disk, but all of the files appear as (.All, .AVI, )
I do not see any individual files that show up as (.seq, .pgm, .snd, etc.), as all of these are folded into the .All files.. When I hit load, the only message I get is "WRONG FILE"
I recently tried this with a 2000 and 2000 XL with the same result..

My question is... is there any way for me to successfully load these .ALL files that I have on a zip disk from an MPC60 into the MPC2000 or XL. Does this machine read ".All" files??


The crazy thing is that about 2 years ago, I did load these MPC60 files into an MPC2000 with no problem. Could it have been a different operating system on that particular 2000? or Different Zip Drive i was using??

Any help will be appreciated??

no.. but if you had a floppy drive in the mpc, and the scsi zip .. you could load sounds in the mpc, save to floppy disk .. then take that disk and put it in the 2000.

or did they take the floppy drive out of the 60 and put a cf reader in it's place?

I no Longer have the MPC 60. All I have are Zip disks with files from the MPC 60 that I am now trying to load into the 2000. So is it my understanding that the 2000 should be able to read .All files?

Again, I get the message 'wrong file' when I am trying to load them from the Zip disk into the 2000...

I will check out the 2 links that were sent. as well, thank you.

well at the very least, it should have been possible to see the all file and load individual .snd files from within that. Hey, are you using OS 1.72 by any chance on the classic?

.ALL files are your sequences and songs. .APS is your program info.
MPC60 manual pg 154 wrote:The six different file types:
All data are stored to disk as files. All disk files used on the MPC60 use
a 16-character file name, which you assign to the file when it is saved to
disk. In addition, there is a three-letter file extension, which is used to
differentiate the file types. The six types of files (and file name
extensions) are:
1. FILENAME.SEQ: This file contains a single sequence.
2. FILENAME.ALL: This file contains all 99 sequences and all 20
songs.
3. FILENAME.SND: This file contains a single drum sound.
4. FILENAME.PGM: This file holds the contents of a single program
and the names of all sounds used by that program, but it does not
contain the actual sounds.
5. FILENAME.APS: This file holds the contents of all eight programs
and the names of all sounds used in those programs, but it does not
contain the actual sounds.
6. FILENAME.PAR: This file contains all settings that are normally
retained in the MPC60, even when power is removed. These
parameters are not saved within any other file type.

I was able to successfully load .ALL files from a zip disc into my 2000 that were originally created on a 2000...

So im thinking that my old mpc 60 zip discs are just damaged in some type of way since they have been in a Hot/Cold storage environment for the last 16 years

Still looking at the option of PC conversion programs

well since it is on .zip, you should be able to open that up on a windows PC with a zip drive. can you even see the files? it could be possible to transfer the stuff onto the computer and then drop those files onto something else that could be connected to the 2k
