Non standard sample ping tricks

Hey
Does anyone have some out of left field sampling/ manipulating tricks on the mpc?
Are there cool ways to modulate the sample start points to glitch them up for example?
Or what would be cool is a way to get a sort of legato triggering like in ableton live
Or how to get crazy per step changes to mimic some elektron style sequencing
Any crazy ideas?

Can't tell you exact steps, as it's just too much to write, but on mpc notes are stiff, you can't really move them in realtime to create some effects, you can mute/unmute them, add or erease.

What you can do is manipulating sample assigment per notes, velocity layers and little bit of sound samples them selves (start/end points moving and other q-link options).

So for instance: make a only bass/instrument program, and second drum or samples.

Record just bassline for few bars, now switch a program on this track to drum/samples program and then return to bass. I think you will catch what I mean when trying to do so.

Beside if you wanna go easy, just connect to Live or other synth or step sequencer with realtime note shift.

here is a way to make some random glitches with samples in your ram:

at first, you must fill your ram, so load random samples.
go to TRIM mode,
select a long sample,
set CHOP: ON,
save it,
set CHOP: OFF,
select a zone (maybe the last half of the sample),
delete it (select OVER W),
set CHOP: ON,
then try all 32 chops, some of them can give you glitches.

The fuller your ram, the better the effect.


another quick way to glitch:
while playback, just go to LOAD screen.
depends on what piece of music you have running, again: the fuller the ram / the tracks, the better the effect.


have you tried the ringmodulator to mess with your sounds? also can makes nice glitchy sounding effects sometimes.
