Hello,

Just bought myself an MPC 1000 and have been trying to use it as a sequencer / brain for my other synths and drum machines. The three synthesisers I am currently using are, the Roland JP8000, Roland TR8 drum machine and the Cyclone Analogic TT-303 Bass Bot. But can't seem to get it worked out, I'm hoping to be able to record chords and melodies from my JP8000 into the MPC via midi then have the MPC automate those patterns and play them via midi on the JP8000. Whilst just sending a start/stop signal to my TR8, which is daisy chained to the TT303.

JP8000 -midi out->
MPC 1000 -midi out> TR8 -midi out-> TT303 bass bot
Jp8000 <-midi in-

I've tried just about every combination of setting in the MPC sync section, but to no avail. I just don't know how to set this up, or where to go from here really. At the moment, with both no slave or master set my JP8000 is playing the TR8's drum kit via the MPC.... :twisted: :twisted: :twisted: :twisted: :twisted:

Can anyone out there lend a hand? Thanks again.

Sync page is for syncing. Go mode 9 and
leave multi off (for now)
2nd channel 0 offset
soft thru: change to OMNI (and select port A or B that you have jp connected to )

I guess...

if you don't have those option in view, it' just about soft thru setting, and obviously channels.

Sorry, Im using JJOS so I don't know if I can switch modes?

Its working a little better now albeit, but still messing around. Trying to record a triad into the MPC will only play back the note being played but without the harmonics that are being held at the same time. Plus changing the kits on my drum machine every time i press play.

you can do alll except saving anything on mpc

mpc records all events coming in, check MIDI monitor (mode 9> monitor) to actually see what is hitting mpc's midi input. In Step Edit you can see what is recorded.
I see on jp MIDI implementation chart that jp has to be in operating mode 2 or 4 to actually recognize Channel Pressure (I think this is what is missing when you play back to jp)
Plus changing the kits on my drum machine every time i press play.

Are you setting up Program change at beggining of tracks? better do so

I believe you need to sit down a little with jp manual, and check all possibilities of operating modes, until you see how it deal with midi input/ output. On mpc there is not really much to set up.
