What's up Fellow Mpc heads,

Not new to the site been here for years, I had a MPC2000XL maybe 5 years ago . I recently purchased a classic MPC 2000. When I power on the unit I get disk read error, so I replaced the floppy drive with a new one, but I still get the same error. I've tried two different os disk. Is there something else I should be looking at? I've check the connections to the drive and mpc. There are no tears in the ribbon cable. I'm not sure what more to check.

oh, and once you get that working... don't leave disks inserted in the machine.. for example, it is easy to power on with the boot disk and forget to take it out because you right away jump to the sample screen to start working on a new beat... but the way that machine idles, it starts spinning again without accessing the disk menu and when you hear that... your disk might have got screwed. (so to save, put in a new disk and save again)

Are you able to read any other floppy disks successfully?
If not, could be the drive itself has issues. If so, the floppy itself could have issues.
Format a completely new floppy on pc and follow my instructions above.

Well after 2 floppy drives and 2 new os disk. I finally sent it in to MPCstuff.com to repair. It needed a new main board. I figured something was up usually the 2k classic ask to insert os disk at start up. Instead i got disk read error.
