JJOS and Chicken Systems Translator

Now, with the Akai MPC - many different ones - comes "JJOS", developed by a former Akai Japan engineer. There are many different JJOS variants for different MPC's, and due to some misinformation and language barriers, we've gotten a number of inquiries if Translator and other Chicken Systems products support JJOS.
Here's the answer: we don't because there's nothing to support.

Chicken Systems are in the business of 'file conversion', so they've analysed the JJOSXL PGM 'structure' and apparently on paper it appears to be identical to Akai OS MPC1000 PGM structure - so, as far as they are concerned, there's nothing to 'convert' and hence their software doesn't need to worry about it. As I'm not a programmer, I'm happy to take their word for that.

An end user who makes music on various MPCs, my main concern is not 'file conversion', it is 'file compatibility'. So, if I take an actual, real life JJOSXL program and physically load it into an MPC1000 running Akai OS or JJOS 'free', I expect it to just 'work' correctly. Unfortunately what actually happens is that the program appears to load fine, samples are assigned to the correct pads etc, but when you hit a pad, no audio is emitted.

I have tried tweaking all program parameters but can find no workaround. So, as an end user, it is clear that JJOSXL programs are NOT backward compatible with the free JJOS nor Akai OS. This has been tested in the current version of JJOSXL.

Why is this happening? I haven't got a clue, not my area of expertise, but it seems there's something in a JJOSXL generated program file that is triggering some kind of bug in Akai OS/free JJOS. If that's the case, then perhaps file conversion software could strip out that rogue parameter to remedy that until JJ can come up with a proper solution - that might involve actually sitting down with a physical MPC running JJOSXL though ( or at least having a conversation with JJ about it).

JJOS is not backward compatible even within same version... when only OS1 was as a main dish, it was easy to keep it tihgt because, loading a project in newer OS was showing (by ears) changes right away and it was easy to spot an issue. After jjos2 things have changed, people were using 4 systems: akai,os1,o2,freeos.. damn... now it's even more

I just remind with jjosXL jj clearly said it will be tottaly different $ht, as many things were re-programmed to force new features and such..

Best way to covert files if you can't by program is to record as stream of audio files and chop from large sound chunk on MPC to make a program, but yeah making a well working program is a main hassle within MPC, it's main programming.
