Chops moving even after saving!!

Hello all. MrMafesto is the name!

Long time DJ and Production enthusiast, and i am excited about being able to learn and share from the wealth of information that is MPC-Forums!

I am coming from an MPC2000 to a Touch because i wanted a bit more PC integration along with my mpc feel! I think i may have struck the right balance with the touch but there is a pressing issue as i learn the process of using the software.

When i sample something , then trim and chop the sample..i will save it to a program.
Then, i might save the project..or make a track with everything seaming to fit great! Then..if i go back into the sample to chop or edit my chops...even after saving..., The 1st chop of the sample is now on pad 2 instead of 1, and all other sounds have shifted over one pad...both in the chop screen and in the program.

Sometimes, as im scratching my head and messing with it..they will move over 1 or more pads leaving no sounds on the 1st, second or third pad...but they stay in sequence.

Has anybody noticed that? Is it a bug or just user error, which is quite possible as i am new to the process of using the MPC software to create.

I took a look thru the forum trying to locate similar issues, but maybe my search words are not on point.
Any help for a software noob would be appreciated!!

This happened to me last night also. I was struggling to articulate it, good job. I too would greatly appreciate any help. & I'm kinda glad in a bizarre way that this happened to somebody else, too. I was thinking I was screwing up somehow.

I've never encountered this. When I run into weird sh.t like this, I just reinstall the software. It takes zero effort and no time to do it. If it shows back up, then I know there's a problem. All software does weird sh.t sometimes and a clean install can start the "solving" process.

Only problem is i have tried to use the hardware with a completely different PC and the issue still occurs.
Doing further research, i even came across an older post:

It seemed to be the same issue, but after trying some of the solutions, i am still having the issue. It really becomes something of a deal breaker as i do a lot of sampling.

It is odd although that it does not seem to be a common problem...

Hmmmm..almost 80 views and nobody else is having this issue...starting to think its user error? Maybe there is a setting that i have checked that should be unchecked? Is there something i should be using for "free chop"? Is there some setting that might automatically do this?

Desperate for any advice!

some of those views could be people like me who own the Ren but didnt know it was a thread about Touch

I think i may have to chalk this one up as Id 10 T error.

After speaking with a friend of mine, he walked me thru his process. It seems for my intents and purpose, its better to EXTRACT the samples to pads on a new program instead of the "other" option.

This creates a new sample file for each chop and places it on a pad in order. Doing this allows me to go back into each chop and edit if need be ..and the chops stay on the same pads as where i placed them and also do not alter the start/end points like it was doing before.

Im not sure what the "other" option for saving are meant to do ..and Im sure they serve their purpose also.

I will be more cautions in the future not to panic just because i have not found the right button combo for the haduken yet!

If you're using the 'non destructive chop' option, you must make sure 'link slices' is OFF if you want to overlap slice points or have non-concurrent slices. Otherwise moving the end point of one slice will move the start point of the next one and so on. Or export as 'pad parameters' to avoid this altogether.

I exported as 'Pad Parameters' but am facing this issue also.. Really odd
