getting rid of the hisssssssssss sound...

hello...

im recently aquired a 3 year old mpc 2000xl. now i hocked it up to my mbox and wanted to record the beats from the mpc onto protools.so i go from the stereo out to the source 1 input. now when i listen to the signal going to protool i get a trerrible his and cant use the volume from the mpc to control this. dont know why this happens because when im making a beat on the mpc the sound is clean, the volume knob works and there's no hiss.

i was thinking that the stereo out plug inserts might be damaged. but i really am lost and am dyin to get rid of this sound.

hope someone can help me with this...cheers already inadvance for the ones that take time to awnser.

Troubleshoot. This should not happen if it's hooked up correct, and you don't need a Hum Eliminator or anything to get a clean signal.

I haven't got the m-box anymore, but it sounds like you may have selected the wrong source type. You should set the input on the m-box to linelevel, so make sure you haven't set it to "mic" or "instrument".

If that's not it, try if other sources (like an old cdplayer or synth) besides the mpc have the same problem. If they do, it either the cable or the M-box.

roll off a bit of the highs on your mixer and try and get the signal as clean and direct to the recording source as you can. im not too sure i only use the spdif mainly.
