The transient shaper works.

Also duplicate a track, or the whole drum bus, compress one really hard with fast attack, probably with the vca compresser, leave the other uncompressed, mix together.

The low pass filter with a bit of resonance on the right bit of the kick will thump. Can be too much. High pass filter a kick around 30hz

The high pass filter can also make snares, hi-hats etc brighter if you get it at the right frequency with a little resonance.

Try a little distortion, might work.

Also eq.

Turn your drums up so high that they look like square waves, lol.

What I used to do on 2kxl. Edit my samples on pc using sound forge, listen to EACH sample and take away freq's that it doesn't need or use, essentially filtering them individually. This freed up lots of headroom. No muddiness whatsoever. Saved samples to CF and placed into 2kxl, ALL LOVE from there on, drums BANGED hard.

I've shown a few people how to do this before and always had good results. Is it destructive to samples, yes, so always make copies and work using those, keep your originals in your library elsewhere.
