Can anyone help a cat about to invest.

I'm about to purchase an mpc 4000 and I want to buy an excellent sounding virtual analogue sound module.

The two models I am looking at are the Clavia Nord Rack 2X and the Access Virus Classic Rack.

I was wondering if anyone has used both these modules and could tell me which one has the better sound. I want to create sounds similar to old school analogue synths such as moog, arp oddyssey, jupiter 8, sh-101, korg ms-20. The type of sounds used in the 70s and 80s on disco, groove, funk joints.

Any advice would be most appreciated. Even if it is to recommend something other than these 2 modules.

Peace

I haven't used the Virus. I think it's more geared towards techno. I do however like the Nord Lead, but for what you want I'd strongly recommend the Alesis ION. I feel it's about the realest thing to analog out right now. It emulates analog very well.

only problem with the access line compared to nord, is that the virus heavily relies on its effects and arrpegiators which are pretty average...when both are dry , i think the nord's blow the virus's in ease of use and overall quality of filters and oscillators...if you put a nice effects processor say on the nord3, itll blow the virus c far out in quality and character... but i certainly wouldnt mind having both :)

now what i said is my opinion...its just an opinion :)
