Hey man,

you and HedTec actually convinced me to buy one - and I don't regret a single bit.

Can I have one question? How do you switch the effects just like that with pads? (like on this video:

Only way I found out is switching the effect sets with the wheel...

Thanks for making dope music!

Vid link fixed.

Samples may already be resampled to include a permanent effect (record main out). I don't know if 500 has that or not, or on computer make a copy of the same sample, put efx on one.

So you end up with a normal sample and a copy with efx permanently in it.
Put them on 2 separate pads and/or velocity layer 1 pad, soft pad bang plays normal sample, hard pad bang plays efx sample. Many ways to do things. Vids usually cause more questions than answers.

Vid IS cool, it's my guess on the technique, I've done that before too, 2kxl, 4k.

I don't know if 500 can do that

It can, good idea.

Or I guess you could use numeric button on the effect screen. The advantage to that is that you can switch the effect midplay plus you have 20 eff sets at hand.

Typing two-digit numbers is kinda tricky tho, but it works!

Yo thanks for checking my YouTube channel homies! I used efx on the sample I just used a different pad bank for my filtered chops. There are so many different techniques, that's just one way I like to get my sample flips organized on the pads.

Ima guy who never needed one. The hype in the older mpcs is just that. Only preferred for the old sound, which its not like it can't be duplicated anyway. People need to not have an elitist mentality when it comes to equipment. Peace

Not being elitist, I used the 2K for 10 years and it was my favorite MPC before getting a 3K. I haven't heard the MPC60 sound duplicated or the MPC3K timing/swing duplicated.

you know... the thing i hate about the 500 is the **** pads... it's like, why did they bother even making them rubber? they should have left it metal like the rest of the shit.. cause you gotta shaolin finger jab the shit either way to get a sound from the damn thing. The only other gripe i have is the alt/shift keys plus pads to access features. That is a bit annoying but it's not really a serious complaint because you get used to that stuff over time. I just wish numark weren't **** heads back then and made the 500 a bit nicer.
