I am about to buy one but I want to know now if I should order win 8 or upgrade to 10 for free on my laptop.

Should work fine there hasn't been any software changes that I'm aware of, the software was working fine on my pc w Windows 10 when I was using it

As fas as I know Akai have stopped officially supporting Win 7 and have Win 8 as a minimum requirement. With that in mind it would be foolish of me to recommend you get Win 7 if you're thinking of getting an MPC Studio.

win 7 works fine..i use it with the res,studio and touch...no issue

Are you using a 1.x.x retail build or some of That 2.0 alpha release goodness?
A lot of us on here can't use the Touch with Windows 7 anymore. The 1.9.2 or 1.9.3 update no longer worked when it got to the video driver configuration. Only updating to to Win 10 or 8.1 worked.
