Record beat with +12dB in DAW entry level -6dB?

i was messing around with the 2kxl i separately recorded by tracks through the main out into my soundcard with the +12dB option active but the entry level on the channels in DAW i set it with the main volume knob to be -6dB peak. After that i record and mixed all tracks and somehow i got better result then the normal way. I knew that with the option +12dB i just slammed the output of the mpc and losse some transients but i feel is better somehow.Any thoughts on this ?

It's been a debate over the years that the main outs on the 2000/XL "sound better" than the multi outs. You're not crazy.
