USB Keyboard

I don't know how many of you use a USB keyboard for data entry with the MPC 4000, but I just tried it for the first time last night. I must say it's great. It's a time saver, plus you can ease some of the wear and tear on the cheap feeling data wheel. You can even activate the soft on screen functions using the F-keys at the top of the keyboard. Only gripe is I wish if you hold down the "+" key, it would scroll through values like you could do in windows. You still have to tap the key if you need to do alot of scrolling

I'm using that Logitech USB keyboard, the little black one. Works fine and doesn't take up too much space.

I use an old imac keyboard, like the old color ones, small and compact has all the keys i need and usb... u can color coordinate also if you have ya gear done by Forat* ebay has tons of them...

I'm using the Apple USB Keyboard (white keys). It's been working very well with my MPC, no problems at all. You can get one now for $29, they're usually $49.

i have a mac power keyboard but doesnt seem to work.
when do yall use the keyboard?
is there a setting to enable a keyboard on the mpc?

i dont know for sure if my keyboard actually works.

Try to change a track name. The moment you can change the name with the dial, you should also be able to type characters with the USB keyboard.

You can also try to use the F1-F6 keys of the USB keyboard instead of the softkeys below the LCD. That should work all the time.

I've read before that some USB keyboards just don't work with the mpc.

You DID insert it in the front USB port, right?
(It's almost impossible to do this wrong, but anyway. )
