i forgot you need a fast 7200 rpm disc drive too.

So are u guys telling me that Native instruments Komplete 2, which I am about to look up shortly, is cheaper and does more....and it comes with more things to do with it.......

Komplete is a totally different thing. Gigastudio is "just" a sampler. Granted, it's probably the heaviest sampler in the world, but still just a sampler.
For the price of Giga and compatible hardware, you could easily buy the Komplete bundle and then some. It's not only has a lot of very capable samplers, but a few very dope synths too. All you need besides that your Protools, and you're set.

head over to http://www.nativeinstruments.com/ and see for yourself. Most off the products in Komplete 2 have demo's you can download to try them out yourself. Won't cost you a penny and it should give you some idea of their potential.

So what exactly do I need with that komplete 2 setup.....I have protools hd....running on a Mac G4....I have a mpc and a Mackie 8DB mixing console....I also have a motif 8 and a couple of modules....so what and how do i integrate the komplete 2 into my setup.....

Well, you just load it into ProTools basically. No need to buy any other hardware. These are all "virtual instruments". They pretend to be synths and samplers, but use your computers power and protools audiorouting produce sounds. In fact, some HD systems already have a virtual instrument bundled (the Virus Indigo synth).

You already have ProTools hd and some good hardware, you wouldn't gain much from adding Giga to your setup.

Virtual instruments come in a few different formats, and ProTools supports RTAS. Most of the stuff we talked about in this tread have a RTAS version:

"Real-Time AudioSuite (RTAS) plug-ins are host-based processors, using the computer's processing power to do their job. Functionally, RTAS plug-ins offer many of the real-time benefits of TDM plug-ins. They are fully automatable, their parameters can change in real time, and their effects are not permanently written to the audio file. Since they are host-based, RTAS plug-ins require trade-offs between track and plug-in count, edit density and amount of mix automation in a session."

Okay that sounds real good right now....but now listen to this....the mpc is my sequencer....do all of my music on it....i have the 2000....so i only have 2 midi outs and ins....i have a daisy chain between the mpc, the motif 8 and the proteus...and in my B output i have that connected to the protools or rather the motu unicorn for sync capability...

Question1: how do get the koncack to play through my motif 8 which by the way is the controller....??

Question2: would i have to reroute my studio's infrastucture in order to make those virtual instruments work...

Question3: what if I wanted to use the konkact outside of my studio...like in someone else's studio...How is that possible or is that possible??

antboogie, no disrepect but you should do some/allot of reading before you purchase giga sampler or komplete 2 or whatever because the things that you are going to purchase dictates how you are going to make your music.

you should sit down and ask yourself how do i want to make music? hardware or software or both? then what is needed for hardware or software or both? with software you need a very nice/fast computer. with hardware you could use 386 chip computer.

just do some reading/research on the subject and then make your decision.

Well, depending on how you've wired it now you may have to switch a few midicables around. But you'll have to do that anyway if you're expanding your setup.
I would hook up the Motif 8 as a controller in a handshake on your first midi-input. Then hook the Proteus up to the Motif's midi-tru. That leaves you one midiport for syncing and controlling Komplete. You'll only have to switch to Midi- B on the mpc's mainscreen to play it, just as you would with a hardware synth.

Since it's a sofware package only, you won't be able to use Komplete outside your own studio . If this is high on your list you should also check out MOTU Mach 5 again, cause this will work on a second system. It stores the registration on a hardware dongle (iLok), so you can install it on a second system and take just the iLok with you.

I agree with mwalker that you may have to spend some serious time researching what you really want. A good way to do this is download some demo's and install them on your system and work with them a few weeks.
I don't mind helping you make a decision, but in the end it will only be the opinion of a few guys on this forum and it may not be what YOU wanted.

download ravity from www.luxonix.com (the demo) and start there. it a rompler, nice sounds and pretty cheap.

This Ravity joint and Many other romplers n V Samplers are in

RTAS, Audiounit or VST etc Your Protools Should be able to open these internally as for giga ...........You Can try REWIRE Protocal

Im about to embark on a gritty, grimy type hip hop project.....I need to know how I can I make my drum samples sound more grimy.....I'm using the MPC2000xl....what techniques do u guys recommend that I do...can
i do it in the mpc or is there a plug-in that i can use.....??

Its not like its r&b or pop where I can have cleaner samples...i need some WUtang, MOB deep type drums u know/?...Gritty.....

your jokin right, or u just like jerkn off these guys, u have about 8grand worth of gear, and you dont know how to get grimey drums, do search on grimey drums, there are loads of threads on tht. and stop asking questions tht belong in the noob section
