If Akai is reading or watching....
First of all, I am glad you are innovating with the times, while still maintaining the core of drum sampler/machine you all are well known for.
This is not a complaint, not a venting rant, just a loyal customer and user of the mpc/mpc studio, and I would like to express my thoughts on the 2.0 MPC Studio in the works...
First, I dont care if the mpc software is a paid or free upgrade. What I care about is if you are going to release it as a paid (or even if its not), there are a few issues I have to be real and honest about.
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE get this software stable!! We are in age were DAW software is pretty stable, and I shouldnt have to worry about my project crashing when working on it a while, or hit the undo button.
I know theres loyalist on this forum that will swear up and down (its the computer, its the plugins), but let me tell you, I have a custom i7 built for audio computer that runs my plugins and other daw just fine, and while using the mpc software, while it does run stable better in 1.9 than the previous updates, I always have to think in my head to save or autosave. And please dont just think thats on this computer, I have a macbook pro maxed out as well, same issue, with slightly variance in plugins. This is software, I dont expect things to be perfect or not crash, but damn, my 1000 has crashed less than the mpc software.
Also, please try to get the versions and project files to work with one another. While I understand you all implement new features in releases (i.e. vintage mode plugins now present), its been a pain converting 1.5 to 1.9 files, and I hope this is not the case with 2.0 where everytime a new release, I have to make a new kit to load properly. This makes me not want to upgrade with a new release because of the hassle of making new drumkits, trying to get older projects to work right, etc.
Finally, audio recording/midi. Two things = FL Studio and Multitimbral in plugin mode. I hope the mpc software gets to a point where you can direct record audio and instruments in it like fl studio, and multitimbral in plugin i mode. I saw Dan preview this earlier in the year, hopefully it works even better then what he showed. When I want to record my fantom, I have to hit the record button, record the sequence, assign it to a pad, and record the pad, just a bunch of extra work in 2016. Hopefully you can get this right, and make the software more user friendly in a vst/plugin situation.
Thats it, I hope someone with or affiliate with Akai will forward them this message (as I have called and left feedback regarding these issues). Hopefully we can all make better use and enjoy the new release coming soon. As of now, I will enjoy my mpc studio for what it is.
