Please help me get starten with midi setup :))

Hey! I know there are a 100 simular topics about this but no one is specific enough for me to understand. I got my microkorg synth and I have connected it from Its midi out to the midi in 1 on my 2000xl. And from out A on the mpc I have a midi cable to the in on the mk. What I want to do is to record tracks on my mpc from my mk. When I press shift nine I come In to This Midi menu wich I Dont umderstand. I tried to get it right but all thats happening is that my pads from the mpc is playing from some of the Keys on my mk. And when i hit Rec/play it Says Waiting for midi 'play'... please can anyone give very specific instruktions how to fix this and you will save my life if you do !! Thx for read ing

Sounds like you have enabled MIDI sync. You don't need MIDI sync with your MK... at least not MIDI sync in. Syncing the MK to the MPC is nice if you want the arpeggiator or LFO on the MK to follow the tempo. But for now disable all MIDI sync in the settings (shift 9). After that there should be no more "waiting for.." message. It might be a good idea to disable local (the second or third parameter in the MIDI section) on the MK.

Okey so I now only have the out from mk to in mpc cable. The pads are not playing on the mk Keys now but I still cant record :/ it say Waiting for midi play still... I dont know what i should do to get the sound to my mpc

Okey I did what you wrote and The massage is gone! The problem is when I turn of local i get no sound from the mk at all. And when i turn it on It doesnt record. Any idea what the problem is?

Connect both cables: MK-Out to MPC-In, MPC-Out to MK-In. On the main screen move your cursor to field labeled as "S:". The value is probably set to DRUM1. Switch it to MIDI. In the field next to it select the correct output port (the one that goes from MPC-Out to MK-In) like 1A. Now you should be able to record and play back stuff from your MK. If it does not work make sure that the MK is listening on the right channel. Check the MIDI CH value on the MK.

Thank you so much! ^^ Finally Works! Btw is there any way to put different sounds and tracks to the sequence from the mk?

And another thing, when I use the mod wheel it doesnt mod but it starts the sequence on the mpc :S

No that is not possible. As Lampdog said the MK is only monotimbral which means that you can play only one patch at a time. What you can do is to record a part via midi, record the output of your MK on your computer, play back the recording on your computer and sample it to the MPC. Repeat this procedure until you got all the different instruments/parts you need.

I'd guess that the mod wheel cc is mapped to the play function. Go to MIDI/Sync (Shift 9) and MIDIsw (F3) on the MPC. Change the Ctrl value of all switches to "off".
