Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

I need some pointers please. Finished a track, sequenced into a decent song, all FX and levelled. Saved it.

Getting ready to track into the computer, did one last save using the replace command. Got disk write error.

All my work lost, the file was deleted.

Is it best practices to save as a new file each save to stop deleting in the event of an error?

when this happens to me, i have to eject the disk / cf card (what i use), go back to main screen, go back into save screen, and re-save. then it will work. it has never crashed on me to where i lose my work - it freezes up and looks crashed, but usually popping the card out sort of jerks it back into shape.

it only happens to me on replace - so another option is to save using a new name.

After a bit of playing and a couple of lost projects I found that the mpc likes to save to defined locations and not simply to the root directory. Helps me be more organised too
