By bjwolf33 Wed Jul 13, 2016 10:43 pm
Could someone please give me a rundown on putting in additional memory on an mpc2000 classic? Having s tough time finding specific instructions or videos online.

Thank you.

Opening an unused can of peanut butter is often harder. You'll be fine.

Opening a child proof bottle of prescribed medicine is harder. Just go for it.

I would first ask for the help of an adult because handling screw drivers can be recipe for injury.

Lotta samples in that.

Will it be harder to collect those samples than installing 2k classic ram though. hmm.

Yep, I know the can opener method.

Let me first say..you guys are hilarious!

No, I'm capable of opening the machine and have several times. Is the memory inserted underneath or, once I open the top, do I need to remove the board to get the cards in?

Alright..seems the classic requires removal of the board. Tips on how to seperate the board from the pads via the ribbon or whether that is necessary? Sorry if this is simple for everyone else on earth but I plan on using this thing for ever and don't want to screw it up. Directions in manual are super vague and non-existent online near as I can tell.

yeah you take it slow, open it up... document if needed with pictures.. remove any cables in the way and remember where they go. Don't force anything. If memory serves me correct it takes 72 pin simms and you are best to put in two 16meg sticks.

Do I remove the board or the pads? Do I seperate the two via the thick ribbon at the top of the pads. Any additional info would really help me and maybe others. Lots of info on the procedure for the xl but no videos or clear descriptions for the classic anywhere.

Please walk me through it.
