I have been experiencing some weird sound level issues with my S20. Sometimes although indication lights are steady there will be a huge boost midway through a longer sample. In addition there's some general crackle with certain samples. I am monitoring and it sounds fine, but then I'll play back my sample and it will have crackle or this huge boost in volume at a random moment in the sample. I thought it might be my rca cords, but why would monitor fine? Has anyone else encountered this? Is it just an idiosyncrasy? Thanks for input.

Check the RCA cables again. Sometimes they can sit where they make connection and intermittantly crap out. Also check the RAM. Make sure the slot is free of dust and reseat the RAM.

Key points being:
- Monitoring sounds fine
- Playing back actual sample: Distortion.

Any chance that you can try changing the ram or even trying to sample with the simm not installed?
