Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Hi,

I just installed an IDE to Compact Flash adapter in a friends MPC2000XL (StarTech 35BAYCF2IDE) - it works great, no issues at all BUT I am very concerned about the fragility of the pin connectors having had previous experience with an MPC1000. So, I noticed that you can get Compact Flash to SD card adapters and just wanted to know if anyone here has used one in this setup and if so does it work ok?

Cheers, vout

It works. I've used one plenty of times on my 2000XL.

As long as you make sure you're inserting the CF card with the correct orientation, you should be good with the Startech reader you have. Using a SD to CF adapter works however you won't be able to format it past 1GB anyway.

cf problems can also occur when people slam the cf's into their mpc's, in a hurry, no patience = bent pins.

Plus CF cards are way more sturdy than these cheaply made SD cards. These things just fall apart, I´ve had that happen a few times already.

I always use Kingston and/or Sandisk CF cards. Never had a problem with them.
