So I'm primarily a finger drummer, I dont really use the MPC1000 sequencer at all. I play live with indie and acoustic bands to add some beats and synth/bass flavour.

My question is this I have JJOS2 and was wondering if there is any way at all to get one pad bank to have say 8 - 12 of the pads assigned to internal samples and 4 -8 pads assigned to play an external synth via midi?

Id like to be able to play beast with my right hand and play a real synth module with my left without having to use a separate keyboard. Right now I just drum on the MPC and play a korg electribe on the left hand but was thinking of maybe getting a nord lead rack or similar to control via midi.

Thanks in advance for any help.

is it totally unreasonable to just sample in the synth?
like, when you're putting together the routine, do it the slightly more clunky way on an external device (keyboard or whatnot). but when you're ready for performance, just sample in the synth. (obviously doesn't work if you want to also tweak the synth parameters at the same time)

otherwise, you could re-map the pad MIDI notes, and set a note range on the synth that excludes your drum pad notes. (synth modules aren't guaranteed to have this feature, but I'd assume something like a nord could do this, it's pretty common)
i.e. have all of the pads sending notes to the synth, but set the synth to ignore the ones you want the MPC to play.
