I can't seem to find the right thread so I'm starting this one, sorry.

I need a new XL screen. I've waited a few months to see if the V2 mpc-stuff screens were gonna end up like the V1's. I don't think that's the case but I've heard they're buggy and I want to know the truth before I invest.

So tell me the truth, somebody, please..

Thanks in advance.

You should definitely ask Mike (he owns MPC Stuff - [email protected]) - if there's any known issues he'll be completely upfront with you. I know he's spent a lot of time in beta testing with a number of MPC2000/XL users and obviously continues to monitor feedback from all purchasers.

I believe you're safe purchasing a display from Mike. He stands behind his products. I haven't seen any complaints from anyone around here either. I would've purchased one when they became available. But my original display is still intact.

I've bought three v2 screens for 2000XL's that I modded and had no problems with them.
The 4 biggest things to keep in mind is...
1) You need to be comfortable opening your MPC and replacing the screen. If you don't feel comfortable doing this, get an expert do it.
2) You have to adjust the new screen in the old mount. It's a bit tricky but it can be done after a few tries.
3) When you install the v2 screen, adjust the screen contrast all the way up. You'll first get a white screen when you install it but hold the Shift key and then press the “Other” key. Now can turn the Dial and adjust the View Contrast.
4) Lastly.... make sure the screen is perfectly set up and mounted before you screw everything back together again.

Yeah, I'll hit up Mike, I just thought I'd gather some info here first.

I use the xl for gigs so my main concern is that the new screen *may* crash the machine mid set or get all laggy when I'm trying to load stuff quickly. If that's the case then I'd rather choose a different machine for the job.

Re. installation. I can probably blag it to be fair.. or it's an expensive trip to jazzcat and back.

Thanks for the replies, everyone, you're a top bunch of lads
