MPC1000/JJOS2XL

Probably a newbie question ....

I was wondering if there is a simple way to adjust the sound level of MIDI tracks from within the MPC. I tried adjusting the bar display in both the pad mixer and the track mixer, it works fine for drum tracks, etc. but apparently it has no effect on the sound level of MIDI tracks (so that right now I have to use the volume knob on the synth(s) or on my outboard mixer deck).

MPC mixer is for sounds that pass through the mpc internal engine.

MIDI has no volume because it's data, not audio.

I don't know if the qlinks can be mapped to midi cc #7 (volume).

Thanks.
I tried Q-link >>CC#7, it works quite well but it's a bit cumbersome since the target track (midi channel) of the Q-link CC#7 message must be reset each time one wants to adjust the volume of a different midi track.

So I guess, it makes more sense to keep using the channel faders on my Mackie mixer board.

note the velocity % value on the main screen. velocity might not work for you (depends on the device you're controlling), but it's the closest there is to an MPC-internal MIDI volume fader.

To input in "not too much thinking what you do" :smoker: manner I had 64 physical knobs for 16x4 rows of
volume,
filter,
pan,
pitchbend.

This is in Multi Mode input and it works in playback and record for 16 tracks simultaneously.

Best thing about it is you can stop at any point or go to any location (like start) and input with STOP+REC/OVDUB from all 64 knobs at once to set just ONE CC for sake of keeping sequencer not so much busy with continous input (live rec)

There is a bug in there that jj can't fix - when accidentally you will overdub over a spot with CC... well it won't overwrite... just add to exact same location and playback just one of them (usually the one you don't want :) )
