how does mixing and recording to mixer work??

i got a 2000XL and i been peeping the Alto 1604 mixer, its a 16 channel with USB out for transferring out i would think. either way, i never used the outs on my MPC before so im wondering how does it work? I thought on a forum before that you can only play so many tracks at once or something like that (not sure) but if i could record 8 tracks at once and mix, that would be greatness. any help appreciated

So what these specs tell me is....

1. Eight outputs (including main, total = 10) from mpc can connect to the Alto Mixer no problem.

2. Alto conncts to computer usb, no problem.

3. Alto outputs 2 channel audio to computer exactly as it was designed to do.

Mixing will be done IN the Alto as this is the ONLY place the 8 outs will be broken down into separate channels outside the mpc (there is a way around this but it's the "long route" in case you wanna get
those 10 tracks into computer).

Lampdog, thanks again. i just got back from vacay and realized i left this post haha. im fine mixing it down on the Alto cause i like to be able to physically control the options and stuff like. and i like the USB for the fact that i can record stuff in a modern way and have a finished product. what do you used for recording and mixing?

Yeah, I have a Multiface II , unfortunately as dope as it is, it doesn't have the FX that Total Mix has for the newer joints. Not that it's a big deal though.
