Something is dropping Sept 1st! 2.0?

Bug reports & end-user support for Akai's MPC Software 'controllers' including the new MPC Studio 2, the MPC Touch, MPC Renaissance & original MPC Studio and MPC StudioB lack.

Is there any evidence that they've even been working on 2.0? The total radio silence suggests they've been on an extended hiatus... :popcorn:

'Honesty' isn't the word I'd use; I'd be inclined to go for 'nervously optimisitic'. Back in January, a 2016 release date no doubt seemed like a given. As the year progresses it's going to seem more like a ball and chain.

So, do Akai release it in 2016 even if it's buggy as hell and missing features (e.g. like MPC Software 1.0)? Or do they sit on it until it's properly finished, even if that means releasing it at NAMM 2017? :popcorn:

I'm honestly not that excited about 2.0, and I'm willing to bet there are a lot of people that feel the same. Adding audio tracks is just unnecessary IMO, though I get why they'd want to do it. For anyone that uses Song mode, audio tracks just doesn't logically make sense, unless an audio track can span multiple sequences. I just think the MPC architecture proved more difficult than anticipated, as the sequence / song mode structure isn't logically conducive to audio tracks

Then again, they may just add audio tracks and say "if you want to use them, you can only use one sequence", which would be :Sigh: Either way, if 2.0 doesn't include logical, industry-standard plugin capabilities, they won't see my money. I just finished writing my second album on an MPC Touch, and the current OS works fine for me.

Yeah Touch works great. I think audio tracks is a big deal once you realize the flexibility behind it. MPC software users have not had it for so long they've found other ways. From what I've seen at NAMM it is a major update which would take the MPC software into DAW status.

Ya I am ok with them waiting so long to make sure its not buggy and that its done right. The software has been out for 3 yrs now and still crashes on me all the time. AKAI take your time. Get it right for once.

Yeah, true. I guess I was thinking it's good he didn't say "soon" or something like that under pressure.
But yeah, we'll see – may be a NAMM 2017 thing, and maybe it'll be "soon" then :lol:

In the MPC5000, you built your song in song mode and there was an additional tab to select audio tracks - these would run in time with your entire song, When you bounce down your song, any audio tracks are also bounced down with them. I would hope/assume they are just going to copy that entire functionality and also add the ability to explode all sequencer and audio tracks to individual wav files entirely within song mode (rather than insisting on converting to a single sequence first like they currently do, which is completely backwards).

It’s coming out when it’s ready, no sooner. The software elves are still busy on some cool stuff…
