Probably because adat is pure digital, bypasses converters, straight from the beast and has nothing to with anything analog. It doesn't prohibit you from jack.

OG, the first part was sarcasm (?) Ive been searching this up, and couldnt find any info on it. I can obviously change the volume within the mix, but the main volume is locked. Worked my way through the Saffire interface, I was thinking it had something to do with latency, but it doesn't seem to be. A digital signal not corresponding with an analog signal seems logic though (?)

Volume knob is analog. Digital output is straight and direct, signal doesn't pass through the volume knob. I control my mpc4k adat and triton extreme spdif volumes via my audio interface
