Duck volume on part of a sample in Trim Mode?

Does anyone know if it's possible to duck the volume on part of a sample, i.e. in the middle of the sample? Like for dropping down the volume of a snare in the middle of a drum break if I don't want to hear it, but I want everything else in the sample exactly the same. Almost like side chaining just one little part in the middle of the sample.

PS- I know how to side chain, I know how to chop and/or use attack and decay to duck things. I'm only wondering if we can control the volumes of parts of the sample that are in the middle. If this feature doesn't exist, I think we really really need it!

Chop, patch phrase it and use silence or gain drop on that particular region

you could use the envelope function in an editor like Audacity or Cool Edit Pro....

So it's not possible in the MPC software?

Try automating the track with volume.

That's a good idea. I guess i'll run off a short loop to my DAW, do a volume duck as preferred in the DAW, then bring the new treated sample back into the mpc, and proceed to loop it as needed. Thanks for the idea!

Dynamic EQ or multiband compression...

Tutor was right about 'silence' and 'gain change' but you don't have to do that in chop or patched phrase (you can if you want to tho!).

1. Go to sample edit, highlight the snare you want to lower and either hit 'silence' to mute it or 'gain change' to lower it. on the hardware you hold shift and hit process to get to those. Repeat for other parts. Then chop.

or

2. Chop your sample up first and then hit up a pad and select the silence or gain change.

I do this all the time to either take out parts like you're talking about or go super tight and precise to silence nasty vinyl pops.
