Hello, I've been lurking for the past couple weeks and am brand new to the MPC, I got it about a week ago. Things were working great when it frooze up today during load functions. After some research and trying out a different CF card, it appears my CF reader has malfunctioned. A hard drive seems like a much better option than replacing the CF.

So as long as I can access the files on the hard drive through the mpc's interface, the CF reader is irrelevant and I shouldn't have a problem reloading JJ OS from AKAI OS? (I factory reset while trouble shooting).

Or does loading through a hard drive give me a different/limited set of options?

Thanks in advance, this site has already been a lot of help.

And sorry if this was already asked, I can't find the search function on mobile.

All of my pins are looking good! I opened the mpc up and the ribbon looks good and is connected. Nothing is burned out or dislodged. And I definitely tried with another CF card as well, with the same result.

I have never actually removed the CF card since I've owned it until I had the issue. It went our right in the middle of a session!

If the CF reader is faulty, do you think it would be a good idea to disconnect the ribbon since it doesn't work anyways?
