@Bain I believe that's an older interview. Just because he has gear in the studio doesn't mean he's using it anymore or as often.

If you've heard his recent beats, they don't sound like they came from a 60 and 950. Check out the Pryhme album for such example.

If you watch the video premo explains that he only uses the 60/950 . Premo says it himself.

I guess it is feom 2011 but I have not seen any video of Premo with an mpc ren except for the Akai promo one.

I don't think people are attached to Premo using the 60/950. I was actually happy that he switched to the Ren. Being that I hadn't seen any videos to tell me otherwise I thought he was still on the mpc 60.

Alchemist has also switched to the Ren, at least in the video.

so as reputable producers move to the Renaissance, Akai decide to discontinue it.......

I'm starting to think maybe 2.0 will not be compatible with the Ren........its the only thing that makes any sense of their decision to draw a line under it....

Well at least 1.9.6 got cracked so people won't have to deal with all the stupid activation stuff then.

Haha. I pity any fool who'll try to make music with the software and without the controller. That'll be seriously off-putting. Peeps gonna be oh sh|t, making music is such a pain, I give up!

At this point one may think they're probably gearing up for NAMM, TBH. It's quite close and receives a lot of attention. This time one would hope they have some sort of more fixed date in mind (instead of saying the year and then not releasing it, like they did this year).

@Fanu I don't know why anyone would either. I however do think that the crack makes it convenient to be able to take the controller and go, without having to keep deactivating / reactivating or phoning Numark in the morning and hoping they can take care of it for you.

Plus the AAX and RTAS was also cracked which could be a plus for that wonderful ILOK-less version of PT12 that came out through various channels some months ago. :)

Yeah I reinstalled OSX on my macbook and apparently have run out of activations for the MPC software! Raised it to Akai through the support sections who surprisingly havent got back in touch for over a week now! Luckily the iMac is fine!

Try ringing them as it seems they are consistently slow to respond to email/online support requests. I still cannot believe they don't have a proper activation/deactivation system in place.

It's worth pointing out that the licence (as per the installer) makes no mention of allowing multiple activations, in fact it specifically forbids installation on multiple computers simultaneously. So in theory you having running on your iMac and Macbook is actually not allowed unless you own multiple licenses (i.e. have more than one controller).

I agree, there's bound to be a fair few legitimately licensed users who would take that route. No one wants to be waiting weeks for Akai to get back to them just to reset a clunky activation counter. I believe Maschine handles it much better, it's all completely automated via software center - when you reinstall on a new set up, your older installation is automatically de-licensed. As long as you don't try running the software again on that old installation, your new installation remains fully licensed, no human intervention ever required.
