MPC Live + MPC X: new standalone touchscreen MPCs?

Don t think that vst will be supported in this mpc live...
Also the connexion with mpc os 2.0 wis said to be only as a midi controller, so you should have I think the same fonctionnality of a mpc5000 in a standalone running....

I'm sure the internal ram/system won't allow for 3rd party plugins and that standalone operation will only use Akai/Air stuff.

Says it has a Lithium Battery too! Nice! That's a good size too. Glad there is 2 usb ports AND an SD card. This is looking good.

You think the expansions will be stored on the unit or are they computer only?

ok well hope u guys are happy with ur beloved standalone; if I see pics of u using this standalone next to ur PC I will just have to LOL.

cos as I said lotta peeps want standalone dont play out live and only make beats in they home studio connected up to a PC so the extra £400 u pay ; is it worth it? obviously many think so.

But I get the sense that some people want the real flagship cos thats the one with a metal case that looks more like the Ren but with a Touch screen.

But I am very keen to see this in use and to see how this 2.0 software looks

I assume it won't support third party VST when in standalone, only built in effects, so the ram won't be an issue - not unless it has 'plug out' style tech, which I doubt. Seems like it becomes identical to an MPC Touch controller when connected to the computer, so your VSTs only exist in the computer environment. In standalone mode it's only going to access whatever Akai have pre-installed (IMO).

Well, that's part of the whole "point" of a good modern standalone: you can use it wherever and compose your stuff by only using the machine itself, but when you need that processing and extra juice from your computer, you can use it.

right; but my point is even though people say they want to use it anywhere they want, 99% of the time that place is right next to the computer.

Some people only know how to make music with their computer. This is an option for people may want to close the laptop screen sometimes. Right now it's NOT an option, you have to have a computer.

electribe does not need a computer thats one; there are option for standalone but usually the features cant hold a candle to what can be done with a computer.

but hopefully there will be some good deals on the MPC Touch as it may be cheaper to buy a used touch and then just pay the £100 v 2.0 upgrade cost.

It's hard to trust them with quality assurance. Added with their ability to correct any issues in the software in a timely manner on both the 2.0 side an the new standalone side. This is one thing everyone needs to take in to consideration. The first few who buy this are warriors in my mind. ....

I'm only going by the track record of nuakai. That's why I'll be waiting a full year or so before buying one of these things if at all. I was in the process of making my own standalone unit because I thought something like this was never going to happen. I'll continue work on mine an see what this one amounts to.

Price point in my opinion will have it up with the Toraiz at the $1,999 mark.
