How to record to logic

So I have an MPC Studio & Logic Pro X, and I have managed to play samples from my MPC and record it.

The thing is though, when I record it it's not recorded to Logic but the MPC-plugin.
And if I press play that 4 bar drum loop is playing constantly throughout the song and there's no way for me to control when I want it to stop or change rhythm or whatever.

I've googled & watched several YouTube tutorials and it all tells me to export it as an audio/MIDI-file but come on there's got to be a simpler way.

If there isn't, what is the purpose of buying an MPC when you already have an M-Audio MIDI-keyboard where you can play the samples directly into Logic without having to export and stuff; saving both time and space.

Sure, it's a lot easier to play on the MPC rather than smashing my 5 octave keyboard, but that's what I'm going to do if the other option is exporting.

Should it really be this hard?

In the case of MPC Software, it would be easier to export tracks to wav then import into Logic for mix down.

It seems to me that if you are trying to "track out" like you would a stand alone MPC to DAW, you would need to set up an inter-app audio go-between, like SoundFlowerBed, and then set up the IAC driver for midi control signaling (I think ). So then you can arm tracks in Logic for recording, hit play record and track out the classic way.

It all sounds like a big headache compared to just selecting a couple of options in MPC Software and making instant stems, then importing it all into a Logic project.
